This year Dark Sky Ireland is delighted to co-host, together with the Friends of Mayo Dark Skies group and the International Steering Committee, the 9th International Artificial Light at Night Conference (ALAN) in Westport, Co. Mayo from October 28 to October 31st 2025.
ALAN is the abbreviation of “Artificial Light at Night“ and it is the largest international scientific conference on the impacts of artificial light at night. It covers the topics of biology & ecology, governance & regulation, health, measurement & modeling, social sciences and humanities, and technology & design. The conference is dedicated to bringing together researchers and professionals working in the area of ALAN/light pollution to work towards better lighting concepts.
