Accessing the solar website:

Wilderland has two websites, one always-on, higher resolution website that is heavier to run, and one experimental, situated site, that is solar powered, and in the Nephin Park

The solar site might not always be on or available, it also has other quirks, and will be slower. Adjust your expectactions for this Permacomputing + Small Web alternative.

Locus Sonus Stream Project is a network of open microphones that stream the captured audio environment live from locations spread around the globe. They provide the technology and support for this project and the microphones are maintained by a network of sound artists. Over the last ten years this project has developed from a single remote microphone, to become a worldwide pooled resource used by numerous artists and enjoyed by countless listeners.

World Listening Day is celebrated annually on July 18th,  established 15 years ago by the World Listening Project, to promote the importance of listening to the sounds of the world and to encourage acoustic ecology. The date marks the birthday of R. Murray Schafer, one of the founders of the Acoustic Ecology movement & The World Soundscape Project in the 60’s forming the foundation of studies, talks, soundwalks and activities that link us to listening to and connecting with the diverse natural environments we are part of.

The World Listening Project is dedicated to understanding the world and its natural environment, societies, and cultures through the practice of listening. By promoting active listening and acoustic ecology, the World Listening Project aims to raise awareness about the importance of sound in our lives and its role in shaping our understanding of the world.
